We are BitBakery.

Founded in 2014, BitBakery is a trusted outsourced development provider for companies large and small. We’re located in Waterloo Region, Ontario - one of North America’s fastest-growing tech communities.

BitBakery was started by a core team of software engineers and designers who have worked together for years to bring innovative and engaging experiences to clients around the world.

Prior to starting BitBakery, the team built several award-winning applications and mobile and web solutions for customers like BlackBerry® , YellowPagesTM, AutoTrader, Equitable Insurance® and more. From the experiences, the team recognized the need for professional outsourced software solutions and founded BitBakery.

Our name is a reflection of what we do - we take your ingredients and ‘bake’ bits and bytes into solutions. (We actually like baking too.)

Our team has skills spanning software development and engineering, design, user experience, product management and testing. We’re always looking for great people to join our growing team.

Meet the bakers

Our team has been designing and building solutions since the time of Geocities, Netscape and flip phones. Today, we work with some of the world’s leading companies, from startups to scale-ups to global giants.

Attila Schmidt

Director, User Experience

Attila is our Director of User Experience. He leads our team to deliver intuitive, engaging experiences and designs for our clients. He’s also the baker here at BitBakery. We know the day is going to be great when he comes to the office with a fresh-baked sourdough loaf.

Joe Reda

CTO

Joe is our CTO and he leads our development team. He is passionate about all things tech - and is also an accomplished Big Green Egg BBQ grill master and loves a good cup of coffee.

Wes Worsfold

CEO

Wes is the CEO of BitBakery. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and an active mentor to the startup community here in Waterloo Region. Outside of BitBakery, he teaches Innovation and Entrepreneurship, volunteers in the community and is working on improving his aerial photography skills.

Our History

2023

In 2023, we dove headfirst into generative AI and launched our first ChatGPT-powered mobile app. We also settled into our new spot at the Communitech Hub, a bustling tech space that energized our team and ideas.

2022

In addition to supporting our clients, we rebuilt and relaunched our Water My Lawn mobile app. We also were honoured to work with the Women's Brain Health Initiative to launch BrainFit - Free Habit Tracker, a unique app geared to help build and maintain strong and healthy habits to protect brain health.

2021

2021 was another amazing year of supporting our clients mobile and web app development needs.

2020

Continued to grow our team with emphasis on user experience and design. Delivering tech team and embedded team support to global clients around the world.

2019

Built and delivered applications for national insurance providers. Moving into our new expanded space this September.

2018

Built experiments using the Etherium blockchain. Consumer mobile apps build for several sporting verticals. Built solutions for global financial services providers. Designed and built a camera simulator application for training avid photographers.

2017

Build back and front end solutions to support national contest for a global client.

2016

Moved into a larger office in downtown Kitchener as our team expanded. Completed mobile and responsive web projects with SAP and PeopleSoft integrations.

2015

E-commerce solution built for global client including Shopify and Instagram integrations. Mobile apps launched for waste and water conservation using climate and municipal open data sources.

2014

BitBakery is founded. Delivered consumer mobile apps for imaging, electric vehicles (EVs) and insurance clients.
